Patient Registration Update

Newhall Surgery is pleased to announce that they are updating to a Pooled List during November 2024. PCSE (Primary Care Support England) supports and recommends this change.

What is a Pooled List?

A Pooled List means that each patient is registered under the Practice – Newhall Surgery, rather than a Practice Partner as was the case previously. In turn each patient will be allocated a usual or named GP within the Practice, but the registration will be held under the Surgery name. This change will not affect your right to the choice of clinician you see at the Practice and will not affect any of the services offered by the surgery.

The benefits of having a pooled list are:

  • That there is no need to transfer patients when a GP joins or leaves the practice.
  • Practices can divide patients’ usual/named GP between all GPs within the practice.
  • There is a reduction in errors on GP links (when new patients register) as nothing can be sent to incorrect GP codes.
  • Patients will continue to have a choice of the GP that they see, this is known as ‘Patient Choice’. No matter who you have as your usual/named GP you may continue to see the clinician(s) of your choice.

This is for information only, no action is required by our registered patients.
