Newhall Surgery: New Partner Announcement

We are excited to announce that Rebecca has joined our Partnership team alongside Dr Pillai, Dr Patel and Dr Mirza.  Bex joined us in the position of Advanced Clinical Practitioner in February 2025. We are sure you will have seen Bex working within the Practice or have had a consultation with her, but as some patients may not have had that pleasure, we asked Bex to provide a little background on her experience and knowledge, plus a little about herself.

Hi, my name is Rebecca (most people know me as Bex).  I joined Newhall Surgery as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner in February 2025.  I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting and getting to know our staff and patients over this time.

A little about me; I qualified as a Nurse in 2005 working initially at Chesterfield Royal Hospital; then within the police custody suites across Derbyshire before moving into General Practice in 2011.  I have spent 15 years in general practice locally in Swadlincote and am passionate about continuing to provide direct patient care.  I am deeply committed to delivering high‑quality, compassionate care and although I have been fortunate enough to become a Partner, I would like to highlight that this will not affect my clinical commitment.  I will continue to see our patients in the same clinical capacity, supporting patients with long term conditions, learning disabilities, mental health needs, plus managing women’s health needs, undertaking minor illness and injury assessments.

Alongside my patient consultations and commitments at Newhall Surgery, I work as Deputy Clinical Director for Swadlincote Primary Care Network, some of you may have seen me in our central PCN facility at Ragsdale House.  Being in this role allows me to support collaboration between Swadlincote practices, which is important, as we move into new ways of working within the NHS.  I am also involved with South Derbyshire PLACE Alliance which sees Primary Care, Secondary Care, Mental Health Services, Council and Voluntary Sector Partners working together to improve the health of our local population.

Outside of work I am always busy.  I live with my husband and have two children and one stepchild.  Despite now being teenagers and young adults, they still take up a lot of my time.  I have a beautiful dog named Otto and enjoy walking him on the fields every day.  I love exercise, going to the gym and am a keen runner which keeps me healthy and helps manage day to day stresses.

Becoming a Partner reflects a long‑term commitment to the practice, our patients, and the wider community. I am excited to support the existing Partners and Practice Management Team in enabling the practice to grow, ensuring our services continue to reflect the needs of our patients; to help our team deliver safe, high‑quality care both now and in the future which is accessible for everyone registered at the practice.
