 Ordering Prescriptions

PLEASE NOTE THERE IS A NEW PROCESS FOR REQEUSTING FOR MEDICATION FROM 9TH SEPTEMBER 2019, PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR FURTHER INFORMATION.

Medicines Order Line

From the 9th September 2019, all of the Practices in the Swadlincote Area will be using a new, exciting NHS service called Medicines Order Line. This has been set up by the NHS to work with patients to help manage repeat medication. Please see the Medicines Order Line Leaflet and below, the Medicines Order Line frequently asked questions flyer, both of which will be able to provide you with further information.

To order your medication through the Medicines Order Line, please telephone 0115 855 0260 Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 16:00. Excluding Bank Holidays. *** The operating times will be changing for the Medicines Order Line the week commencing 18th November 2019. The new operating times will be 08:00 - 16:00, Monday - Friday. Excluding bank holidays. ***

When you order your medication through Medicines Order Line, they will ask you to check your medication supply before ordering. They will ask you to order your medication when you have 7 days of medication left, if you have a build-up of medication, please let them know so they are able to adjust the quantities so everything falls in line.

An alternative to calling the Medicines Order Line is to order your medication online. If you are looking to register with the online service please complete the Online Services Form and return to the surgery. If you do order your medication online and the service will not let you tick your medication, this could mean you are due for a medication review. Please telephone the Surgery and we will be able to advise you further regarding this. If you require medication that is not on repeat, you can still request this online by entering your request in the free text box and submitting this to the surgery.

You can either pick up the prescription from the Surgery, allowing 2 working days, or the pharmacy of your choice can either receive this electronically or collect it and have it ready at the pharmacy. This will save you an additional journey. Please notify the Surgery of your chosen Pharmacy by completing the Pharmacy Collect Form and returning this to the surgery.

Please be aware, we do not accept prescription requests over the telephone and we are not able to deal with contraception requests, this requires an appointment. Please contact the surgery to book your appointment with the Nurse Practitioner.

Items are removed from prescriptions by clinical staff as and when appropriate.  If you order medication which is not on your repeat prescription please anticipate a delay in the prescription being authorised or the GP requesting to see you before issuing.

PLEASE DO NOT ORDER YOUR MEDICATION VIA THE ONLINE SERVICE IF YOU REQUIRE YOUR MEDICATION AS AN EMERGENCY, PLEASE CALL THE MEDICINES ORDER LINE, PLEASE SEE EMERGENCY PRESCRIPTION TAB FOR FURTHER INFORMATION.
